MONTGOMERY — The Montgomery Police Department has made multiple arrests recently in area crimes. These arrests are recapped below.

MPD has charged Rodney White, 45, of Montgomery with one count of first-degree robbery and one count of attempted murder in connection with the robbery of a 61-year-old man. At about 1 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, Police and Fire Medics responded to the 4300 block of Mobile Highway, where the victim had sustained life-threatening injuries. Police located the suspect, Rodney White, 45, of Montgomery at the scene and subsequently charged him with one count of first-degree-robbery and one count of attempted murder. Following his arrest, White was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was being held under bonds totaling $200,000. The victim is currently listed in serious, but stable, condition.

MPD has charged a 41-year-old Prattville resident, Stevie Coleman, with second-degree assault in connection with a Jan. 22 shooting in the 3700 block of Fairground Road. Officers responded to the scene at about 11 p.m. and located a 36-year-old male who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. MPD developed information that indicated the shooting stemmed from an argument over drugs and identified Coleman as a suspect. The Prattville Police Department took Coleman into custody on Jan. 23 and transferred him to MPD. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was being held under a $7,500 bond. The victim is currently listed in stable condition.

 Montgomery Police have charged a 16-year-old with second-degree assault in connection with a Jan. 11 shooting in the 4600 block of Mobile Highway. Officers arrested Antonio Arnez Easterly on Friday, Jan. 25, and transported him to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was being held under a $15,000 bond. MPD arrested Easterly following his discharge from Baptist Medical Center South, where he had been treated for an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound he sustained when carrying a shotgun in his pants leg.

MPD has charged two Montgomery teenagers with first-degree robbery after a 15-year-old was robbed of his tennis shoes at gunpoint. The victim was robbed at the intersection of Plymouth Road and Southmont Drive at approximately 2:45 p.m. Jan. 25 while walking home from school with a 14-year-old friend. Police developed information that identified 16-year-old Kandarries Swain and a 14-year-old as suspects in the robbery.

MPD took both teenagers into custody Jan. 26. Swain was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was being held under a $60,000 bond. The 14-year-old was charged as a juvenile and transported to the Montgomery County Youth Facility.

MPD has charged three Montgomery teenagers in the armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver. The driver was robbed of personal property, including his vehicle, and pizzas at about 10:20 p.m. Jan. 25 in the 1800 block of Hill Hedge Lane. Officers charged Reginald Jackson, 17, Demetrius Mack, 18, and Jaquon Washington, 18, with one count each of first-degree robbery. MPD took all three into custody on Jan. 26 and transported them to the Montgomery County Detention Facility. Mack was being held under a $60,000 bond; Jackson and Washington were being held under a $35,000 bond each. Officers recovered a .38-caliber handgun from the vehicle occupied by the three suspects.

To date, the Montgomery Police Department has confiscated 92 illegal weapons in conjunction with the department’s Illegal Gun Initiative. MPD began the initiative in mid-January as part of its work to combat gun-related violence.
