An autographed Bear Bryant hat could be yours

An autographed Bear Bryant hat could be yours

The chances of having a hat hand signed by Paul "Bear" Bryant himself is slim to none, however a bessemer native actually has the hat, and he has a mission for it. A former Bessemer police officer used to drive coach bryant to legion field for the games, and one day the "Bear" gave the officer son one of his signature fedoras with his signature inside.

Several years passed and the officer son is a grown man now and at first he did not want to sell the hat, yet his ways on getting a down payment on a house for his family has started to look slim. So he decided to pass this piece of history on to someone else, and for the right price it could be yours.  He plans to put the hat on eBay.com  and the hat should be up on the site within the next two days.

Employees embrace annual farmers market day

Hundreds of Alfa Insurance and Alabama Farmers Federation employees loaded up on fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, organic grains, shrimp and other locally-produced foods at the home office June 30 during the eighth annual Alfa Farmers Market Day.

Organized by Mac Higginbotham, Greenhouse, Nursery & Sod and Horticulture director for the Alabama Farmers Federation, the farmers market is perhaps the most anticipated event held at the home office each year. Farmers and vendors enjoy expanding their customer base, and employees enjoy reaping the benefits of their hard work.

“This event brings a lot of smiling faces because the employees here at Alfa know they are getting products that are harvested at the peak of their nutritional content and flavor,” said Higginbotham.
