Chick-fil-A tea sales to help Red Cross

A popular chicken sandwich restaurant has come up with a sweet deal for helping the American Red Cross. Chick-fil-A® restaurants across southeast Alabama will donate $1 for every gallon of sweet or unsweet tea sold in August to local American Red Cross chapters.

Five Chick-fil-A restaurants in Montgomery and eight additional locations from Prattville to Dothan will participate in the organization’s disaster relief drive.

All funds raised from the tea sales will support the Red Cross’s efforts in southeast Alabama related to recent natural disasters.

The funds will also support future relief efforts related to wildfires, tornadoes, droughts and hurricanes.

“Our friends and neighbors in this area have experienced some tragic events in the last few months,” said Chick-fil-A at Colonial Promenade Marketing Director Knox Bannister.

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -  The owner of several Montgomery area Domino's Pizza stores is happy any way you slice it. He's being awarded a prestigious Franchise Association Gold Franny Award, which few in the business have the honor of receiving.

Mike Orcutt was presented with the honor at the company's regional awards ceremony in Atlanta, Georgia.

Orcutt beat out more than 1,100 other storeowners for the prize, which is given based on several key factors including operational audit scores, community involvement, store safety and security and the team member morale.

“Mike’s personal commitment and leadership made his franchise tremendously successful in 2010,” said Scott Hinshaw, Domino’s executive vice president of franchise operations and development.

The International Franchise Association introduced the Franny Awards more than 20 years ago.

Dominos Pizza is getting rewards of its own.
