Capitol Oyster Bar Riverboat sinking in Alabama River

Capitol Oyster Bar Riverboat sinking in Alabama River

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A common sight to visitors of Montgomery's Capitol Oyster Bar is working its way to the bottom of the Alabama River. The Riverboat owned by the restaurant is sinking.

According to authorities the Riverboat is partially submerged at this time. The boat no longer contained an engine or fuel, however, residual fuel in the vessel has resulted in a minor fuel leak into the water. Montgomery Fire and Rescue has created a boom by floating a charge line to contain and absorb the fuel. Environmental Management and the EPA has been notified.

No word yet on what caused the boat to sink.
