Montgomery County Humane Society Pet-of-the-Week

Hello, my name is Marly. I am a retriever/lab mix. I am still a baby, because I am only six months old. Do you know why I am at the shelter? Well my family was moving and I couldn't go with them. I am hoping that just the right person will adopt me real soon! I have all of my vaccinations, I am heartworm negative, I have a microchip, and I have already been neutered. I know puppies take up lots of time. If you will give me the right training I will grow to be a loyal and trusted member of your family. Would you like to give me a chance in your home? I would be so grateful. I would spend the rest of my life loving you and proving to you that you made the right decision adopting me!

Hey, I am Rhoda. I am solid black with perky ears and long legs. I am about five months old, so I may do a little more growing. Not long ago I was lost and wandering around on the streets in a neighborhood. Well fortunately someone saw me and called Animal Control. I rode to the shelter in that big blue truck. I was a little unnerved by the time I arrived. But the nice people here let me settle down and relax a day or two. Then they checked me out to make sure I was healthy. Later they gave me all of my vaccinations, they tested me for heartworms, they gave me a microchip, and they had me spayed. Now I am ready to go. I just hope that someone will want me to be their pet. You may not know this, but in shelters black dogs don't fair too well. It is much harder for us to get adopted. So when you come in, please take a good look at the black dogs. They need your help. See ya' soon, I hope!

Hi there, I am Chaney. Everybody says that I am one cute little puppy! I am a Border collie/lab mix. You can see that my coat is black and white. Do you know why I am at the shelter? I guess you could say I came from a doggy dysfunctional home! Yes that right! My owner brought me to the shelter because he had too many animals. So here I am hoping I find a new home soon. I have all of my shots for my age, I have a microchip, and I have already been neutered. I am a fun loving boy. I am a bright puppy that learns quickly. If you will just take time with me in the beginning and teach me good doggie manners then I will grow to be a well-adjusted member of the family. If I am ignored and just left in the yard, then I won't have nice manners or be an active part of the family. If you adopt me, please make sure you have the time to spend with me. Give me lots of attention and exercise and I will be a very happy camper! See ya soon!

Hello, I am Tracey. I am a six month old shepherd mix. I have a brown coat that has black highlights all along my back. My face actually has a light brown mask that goes around my eyes! Some nice people found me hanging around an apartment complex. They knew that I didn't belong there, so they brought me to the shelter. I am so glad they did. I didn't like staying out at night all by myself. That was really scary! While I have been here, I have gotten all of my shots, I was tested for heartworms, I was given a microchip, and I was spayed. I have a little more growing to do, but I will not be a large dog. I will be a nice medium size dog just right for a home and a yard! Gosh that will be so nice to have a real home. I can't wait!

Hello, I am Betty, but my friends call me "Little B!" A very nice lady saw me hanging around her house and she knew I didnt have a home. Well she fed me and talked to me and gradually I knew I could trust her. She took me to the vet and had me "fixed" and I had all of my required shots. She brought me to the shelter in hopes that I could find a permanent home. So, here I am hoping to find one real soon! I do need an experience cat person to adopt me. I am staying in one of the offices at the shelter with a real nice lady who has been working with me. I am still really shy, but I have gotten to where I will come out and sit in her lap and get all kinds of love! I like that a lot! I'm looking for a home that is quiet and calm. I just know that I would blossom in the right place. Would you come and adopt me, please?

The Department of Agriculture and Industries Food Safety inspectors continue to conduct effectiveness checks on several varieties of pet food that have been recalled after Salmonella was detected during retail surveillance sampling. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been collaborating with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and state and local officials to investigate a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Infantis infections. A total of 14 individuals infected with the outbreak strain have been reported from nine states.

Hello there! We are Cantrell and Eric! We are Border collie Labrador retriever mixes. We are absolutely adorable, or so we have been told! When we came to the shelter there were fourteen of us! Yes we were a gigantic litter! Poor Mother! I know we drove her wild! Our owner could not find homes for us so here we are hoping for the best! We have all of our shots, we are heartworm negative, we have a microchip, and we have been neutered. We really are fun guys! We love to run and play. There is nothing better than a game of tag with one of your brothers! Come on out to visit with all of us! Maybe you could adopt two of us. Now that would be loads of fun!
