Montgomery County Humane Society Pet-of-the-Week

Hi! I am Grattan! Say, did you notice my sleek black coat? How about the white patch on my chest? Most people here think I am pretty cute, especially when I perk my ears up! I came to the shelter as a stray. Yes, I was so lost and afraid. Animal Control found me and brought me in. Boy, was I glad to get here. Well I got my very own dog run with a bed and lots of food. My owners never came to claim me, so now I am searching for a new home. I have all of my vaccinations, I have been tested for heartworms, I have a microchip, and I have already been spayed. At six months of age I will have a little more growing to do, but not much. I am a great older puppy that will be easy to train and bring into a family. I hope you will come and visit with me real soon!

Hi. I am Asher. When you meet me, you will probably notice that I am a bit shy. I am not too good at walking on a leash yet. I am hoping that my new owners will work with me on leash walking. I am a Jack Russell/ terrier mix. I am only five months old so I will have a little more growing to do, but not much. I will be a small to medium size dog when I am grown. A nice lady found me and brought me to the shelter. I am so glad to be here safe and secure. Since I have been here I have gotten all of my shots, I was tested for heartworms, I got a microchip, and I was neutered. I am keeping my paws crossed that someone will walk through the doors of the puppy room and come over to my cage and say, "that is the cutest little dog. I think I want to adopt him." Gee, wouldn't that be something?

Whew! I have been here such a long time! I don't get it. My name is Frances and I had a home, but my owner was going to have a baby and they brought me here. I wish I had been given a chance to be a part of a family with kids. I think I would have liked it. There is always something going on with kids in the house. While I have been here I have gotten all of my vaccinations, I was tested for heartworms, I was given a microchip, and I was spayed. I came to the shelter as a small puppy. I am now nine months old. I am ready to find my forever home. Since I am young you will need to take me on several walks each day and play with me in the yard. You can teach me nice doggie manners when we are playing or going for walks. It will be so much fun. I can't wait for you to come and adopt me. Hurry up!!

Hey there! I am Macy! I am a chocolate Labrador retriever mix. They think I may have some German short hair pointer in me too! I am a big girl that is full of energy! My owner brought me to the shelter because he just didn't have enough time for me. Well I do need some extra play time because of my high energy level. I have all of my vaccinations, I was tested for heartworms, I got a microchip, and I was spayed. You can look at my picture and see that I am a really cute girl with my chocolate coat and longish ears. Say were you thinking about starting an exercise program? Maybe we could jog together. I would love that. It would give us some "bonding" time! Oh and you would lose weight in the process. See it is a win-win situation! Come on out and let's go for a light jog around the shelter.

Hi, I am Kendra. People tell me that I am a very unusual color. In my picture I may just look like a plain black dog. But when you see me in person, you will see that I have a black streak that goes down my back, but my sides have a coppery look. When you look at me, I may appear black or I may have a copper color depending on how the sun is shining on me. I had an owner. He brought some of us to the shelter, because he had too many animals. Since I have been here I have gotten all of my shots, I was checked for heartworms, I got a microchip, and I was spayed. I am ready to go to my new home! Oh, by the way, if you have a cat, that is fine by me. I get along just great with cats. Now, if someone will just come and adopt me everything will be fine!

Hello, my name is Jennifer. I have been voted "Miss Congeniality" in the cat room! Yes, I greet you when you come in. I like to rub against you as you walk through. I really like it when you rub my head! The other cats like me too! A Good Samaritan found me and brought me to the shelter. No one came looking for me so I need a new home. I have all of my vaccinations, I have a microchip, and I have already been spayed. I hope you will come to see me in the cat room. I know you will like me, because everyone likes me!

Hello, my name is Margie. I hope you can see what a cute girl I am! I am a retriever lab mix and I am about five months old. My coat is a shiny black color and I have a white lightning bolt on my chest! Some nice folks found me wandering in a local park. They tried to find my owners at the park, but everyone they asked said it wasn't their puppy. Well they brought me to the shelter, just hoping my owners would come here trying to find me. Well I waited and waited, but no one came. Now I must find a new home. Since I have been here I have been checked from head to tail! I have gotten all of my vaccinations, I was checked for heartworms, I got a microchip, and I was spayed. I am sure hoping someone will want a pretty, older, black puppy like me to be a part of their family. In case you were wondering, I get along with cats just great! So, if you already have a cat, you can still adopt me! I know I would be the best pet you ever had!
