Hey there! I am Ray! I am a Labrador retriever mix and I am about one year old. Did you see my unusually good looking coat? It is not just brown. No sir, I think they call this color taupe in the fashion world! I am a nice fella that has been adopted once, but things just didn't work out for my family. Now I am again looking for a permanent home. I have all of my shots. I am heartworm negative, I have a microchip, and I have already been neutered. What more could you ask? I have been checked out from head to tail tip and I am in perfect condition. Why don't you come to the shelter and visit with me. We could go outside, play for a while, and then you could fill out those adoption papers and we could go home together. Yeah! I like that idea!

Montgomery Humane Society partners with Subaru for 'Share the Love' campaign

Montgomery Humane Society will join the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) and Subaru of America for Subaru’s annual year-end “Share the Love” campaign and celebration which kicks off November 21, 2012 and runs through January 2, 2013. As part of this national effort, Montgomery Humane Society and Montgomery Subaru have teamed up to have on-site adoptions at the Montgomery Humane Society.

“Share the Love” gives new car buyers and leasees the opportunity to donate $250 to one of five charities – including the ASPCA. One hundred percent of the ASPCA’s “Share the Love” donation is targeted for distribution as grants to animal welfare organizations in all 50 states and Montgomery Humane Society is pleased to be a recipient of one of these grants.

“Private donations have decreased in the past year due to the result of the economy, which limits the level of veterinarian treatment for our homeless animals.

Hello. My name is Laika. When you look at my picture, do you see a sad face? Well you should, because I am very sad. You see my family was moving and they didn't take me with them. I know I am a large dog, but golly I had been with them for several months. I thought things were going great. Anyway I am starting over and hoping that I will have a new home very soon. I am a retriever/lab mix. I am solid black and I weigh seventy four pounds. One feature that stands out on me is my muzzle. Now you are probably wondering why a muzzle would be a noticeable feature on a dog. Well you see my muzzle looks like it belongs on a schnauzer! Yes it does! It is wiry and scruffy looking, but the rest of my coat is smooth and straight! While I have been at the shelter, I have gotten all of my vaccinations, I was tested for heartworms, I got a microchip, and I was spayed. There is nothing holding me back from finding a new home. I have my bags packed and I am ready for a fresh start.

Montgomery County Humane Society to kickoff "Angel Pets" sponsorship program

Montgomery County Humane Society to kickoff "Angel Pets" sponsorship program

Hello Animal lovers,

We are approaching another holiday season rapidly! Let us all work together to give all of our adoptable pets the number one item on their list! Life and a forever home to live it in. The "Angel Pets" sponsorship program was very successful for Christmas '2011! Several of our long term tenants where sponsored and found their way into their forever loving homes. Let me explain to you how our sponsorship program works.

Several people enter our shelter everyday. Alot like myself and the majority of our staff, their homes are already full, but they wish to do more. Angel Pets allows customers, volunteers and even staff members the opportunity to sponsor the adoption fee of a pet of their choice. We have so many to choose from in our adoptions center and every single day we take in more that will also need a forever home.

Hello, I am Rick. As you can see from my picture, I am a Shetland Sheep dog mix. What that means is that I look like a small collie. I have a long fluffy coat that is a golden brown and white. I also have black freckles on my nose. I don't know exactly where those came from, but I think they add some character to my face. Some very nice people found me. They knew that I was lost and confused, so they brought me to the shelter. Well I have waited and waited for my family to find me, but no one ever came asking about me. Now I must find a new home. I have all of my vaccinations, I was treated for heartworms, I have a microchip, and I have already been neutered. I know that the people here will do their best to find me a great home. I am only worried about one thing. I am nine years old. Most people want a puppy or young adult when they come to the shelter. I am hoping potential adopters will look past my age and just see what a great dog I am.

Hi! I am Grattan! Say, did you notice my sleek black coat? How about the white patch on my chest? Most people here think I am pretty cute, especially when I perk my ears up! I came to the shelter as a stray. Yes, I was so lost and afraid. Animal Control found me and brought me in. Boy, was I glad to get here. Well I got my very own dog run with a bed and lots of food. My owners never came to claim me, so now I am searching for a new home. I have all of my vaccinations, I have been tested for heartworms, I have a microchip, and I have already been spayed. At six months of age I will have a little more growing to do, but not much. I am a great older puppy that will be easy to train and bring into a family. I hope you will come and visit with me real soon!
