Montgomery's 40th homicide of 2013 apparently shot by family member | News
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA)- The Montgomery Police Department is investigating the city's 40th homicide of 2013 after the victim of a shooting Thursday afternoon died.
The victim is identified as 23-year-old Demarcus Pringle of Montgomery.
MPD and Fire Medics were called to the 4400 block of Chatham Place around 12:30 p.m. on a report that someone had been shot.
Arriving officers found Pringle at the intersection of Dilworth Road and Gateway Drive in a vehicle with family members who were trying take him to a hospital. Medics took the victim to Baptist Medical Center South where he later died.
Investigators say the shooting happened in the 4400 block of Chatham Place as the result of a domestic dispute between the victim and another family member.
There have been no arrests made in the case and investigators have not provided any information regarding the shooter.
A precautionary lockdown at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School was put in place by the Montgomery Public School system because of the proximity of the school to the scene. The lockdown was eventually lifted.
