Union Springs woman killed in Montgomery 4-vehicle crash | News
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA)- The Montgomery Police Department is investigating the city's 14th traffic fatality of 2013 after a woman was killed Friday night.
The victim, 26-year-old Dora Romero Mendez, of Union Springs, died around 10:40 p.m. Friday when the vehicle she was driving collided with three other vehicles at the intersection of Troy Highway at Plaza Drive.
Fire medics and Montgomery police were called to the scene where they found a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, a 2005 Ford F350, a 2001 Dodge Ram, and a 2010 Chevrolet Savana all involved in the crash. Mendez was driving the Chevy Cavalier and was pronounced dead on the scene..
An initial investigation by the Montgomery Police Dept. indicates that Mendez's car entered the roadway, failing to yield to oncoming traffic, where she collided with the Ford F350.
The result of that crash caused the Ford F350 to collide into the Dodge Ram and the Chevrolet Savana.
The occupants of the Ford F350 and the Chevrolet Savana were transported to a local Hospital for treatment and observation. The occupants of the Dodge Ram were not injured.
MPD's investigation into this traffic crash is ongoing, and no further information is available for release at this time.
