2 arrested in Montgomery's 36th homicide of 2013 | News
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA)- The Montgomery Police Department confirms that it arrested two suspects in connection with the weekend shooting death of 18-year-old DeAnthony Williams. Williams was shot on Saturday, August 17 and died of his injuries the following day.
Arrested and charged with Williams' death are 20-year-old Jesse Bush and 18-year-old Xavier Powell, both of Montgomery. Authorities say they took both men into custody Monday and charged them with one count of murder each.
Both suspects were transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where they're being held on bond's of $75,000.
The investigation started around 4:20 p.m. Saturday when Montgomery Police and Fire Medics were called to the 3500 block of April Street on a call that someone had been shot. When they arrived on the scene they found Williams suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Baptist Medical Center South where he died Sunday evening.
Montgomery Police Department investigators say the circumstances surrounding the shooting initially were unknown, but with further investigation, they determined that Williams and two other males were firing handguns at some subjects in the area of Whiting Avenue. In the course of the shooting, Williams was shot and was later pronounced dead.
Investigators later identified Bush and Powell as the two suspects who were firing handguns with Williams. Due to the circumstances surrounding the shooting, William's death is now classified as the city of Montgomery's 36th homicide of 2013.
No additional information is available for release at this time. The investigation is continuing.
