Vigil held to remember mother killed by stray bullet | News
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA)- Alicia Scott's picture should not be flanked by candles on her doorstep at Patterson Court. She should be there, getting ready to move to her new home this weekend.
"She talked about it all that day," said Twalla McClendon, a friend who lives nearby. "We're going to have the biggest party ever when I move. It's just sad."
But someone took away the chance for a party. Scott was killed by a stray bullet on Tuesday, during a shootout near her apartment at Patterson Court.
"I came out after they stopped shooting," McLendon said. "And I was holding the baby and I went in there and said Alicia, Alicia! Didn't hear nothing."
McClendon joined with another friend, Keiva White, to help organize a vigil in Scott's honor. It was held right at Scott's doorstep, a way for the community to come together to deal with such a shocking crime.
"She did nothing but work and come home. She loved her kids to death," McLendon said. "What was the reason you took a mother, a sister, a auntie away from three kids."
Police do not have anyone in custody for the crime. If you have information, you're asked to call CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP.
