ASU Board calls meeting for Friday | News
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA)- The Alabama State University Board of Trustees announced Tuesday that it has scheduled a meeting for Friday, December 21, 2013.
The meeting is set for 2:30pm in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome Board Room.
The agenda is not available at this time, but ASU media relations says it will be ready prior to the meeting.
Governor Robert Bentley, who serves as the president of all public state universities, will be in attendance.
The Board could discuss the future of its embattled president, Dr. Joseph Silver, whom it placed on paid administrative leave in November. Dr. Silver confirmed that he would be at the meeting, but would not comment further.
The Board has not said why it placed Silver, who's only been on the job for two months, on leave. Silver contends he uncovered conflicts of interest and fraud and that the Board is trying to remove him as he seeks an investigation into the irregularities.
Board action regarding Silver was expected at a special called meeting on November 30, but the Board opted only to name an interim president and ok an independent audit due to the overnight death of Silver's mother.
WSFA 12 News will have coverage of the board meeting.
