Shoney’s® Offers Free All-American Burger™ to All Veterans and Troops on Memorial Day

Shoney’s®, an all-American iconic restaurant brand, will remember America’s fallen military members this Memorial Day (Monday, May 27) by serving a free All-American Burger™ to all veterans and active duty military members.

“It’s our way of saying ‘Thank You!’ to the heroes who fought for our freedom while treating our veterans and troops to a great American burger on Memorial Day,” said David Davoudpour, Chairman and CEO of Shoney’s. 

According to Davoudpour, service members will be treated to Shoney’s Signature favorite All-American Burger, a freshly prepared, hand-pattied, grain-fed, 100% ground beef, cooked to order burger, served on a toasted corn-dusted bun with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, pickles and mayonnaise.

Senate passes CAP Congressional Gold Medal bill

 

MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. – A bill to honor Civil Air Patrol’s World War II veterans with a Congressional Gold Medal passed the U.S. Senate Monday night under unanimous consent after gaining the necessary co-sponsors needed for consideration.

The bill, S. 309, recognizes the contributions of CAP’s pilots and other members who served during the war. Predating the U.S. Air Force, CAP’s services included flying combat and humanitarian missions under hazardous conditions.

Maj. Gen. Chuck Carr, CAP’s national commander, credited members' and other supporters' hard work and expressed his thanks not only to leaders throughout the organization but also to the 82 senators -- 15 more than the minimum needed -- who have signed on as co-sponsors for S. 309.

Carr, reports to the CAP Board of Governors, which consists of 11 members representing the organization, the U.S. Air Force and private industry.

“Capital of Dreams” Triathlon and Kids Duathlon Proceeds Going to Support Boston Marathon Victims

Montgomery, Ala. – In response to the Boston Marathon bombings last week, Team-Magic, Inc., a professional multi-sport event management company, has decided to dedicate proceeds from the Capitol of Dreams 5k Run/Walk to The One Fund Boston.

The One Fund Boston is committed to donating money to victims of the Boston Marathon bombings and their respective families.

The 5k Run/Walk is part of the first annual Capitol of Dreams Triathlon, hosted by the City of Montgomery. Participants of all ability levels are welcome and are able to sign up via wwww.team-magic.com or in person on race day.

The 5k Run/Walk course includes notable civil rights historical markers: Rosa Parks’ bus route, Court Square, Martin Luther King Church, and State Capital Building. The finish line is located at The Riverwalk Amphitheater.

Fun, mental & physical exercise, friendship, fellowship all rolled into one, Square Dance.

New club forming beginning May 15, 2013 at the MASDA Center at 2201 Chestnut Street, Montgomery at 1:30 pm till 4:30pm. Current dancers, previous dancers, non-dancers are invited. Will provide instruction for non-dancers. Get off the couch and come join us for an afternoon of fun. We will meet weekly if club forms.

Beth Nielsen Chapman to perform at the Capri Theatre; tickets still available

Beth Nielsen Chapman to perform at the Capri Theatre; tickets still available

Beth Nielsen Chapman, hit songwriter and musical performer will return to the Capri Theatre in Montgomery, AL on Saturday, April 27. Tickets for the show, a benefit for the Capri Theatre, are on sale now.

Besides the performance by Chapman, April 27 will be the day the Capri Community Film Society will make the final payment on the loan it took out to in 2010 to purchase the Capri Theatre.

"We are excited to finally own the building, free and clear," said Capri Theatre Director Martin McCaffery,"and it is wonderful to have Beth Nielsen Chapman here to help us celebrate this landmark achievement."

Chapman, currently finishing a tour of Europe, is no stranger to the Capri Theatre. She was last at the Capri Theatre in July of 2011 to help with fundraisng efforts to buy the Theatre.
